Modulex/System
A few years ago, I acquired a large collection of Modulex (Mx) bricks & decided to take a Modulex display to BrickCon in Seattle. With that in mind, I started to experiment, seeing if there was a way to integrate Modulex bricks with LEGO system (Sym) bricks. From the picture, I discovered that 8 Mx studs = 5 Sym studs, and fits snuggly between the system bricks.
Also found that you could stick a 1×1 tile with clip on top snuggly into a the bottom of a 2×2 Mx brick. Which means you could integrate Modulex to system. This opened up a few possibilities…

I set out to create a Modulex sand castle (since I had a lot of tan Mx bricks). Created a beach baseplate; tiling off where the sand castle would fit. Added cheese wedges and slopes to “lock in” the Modulex bricks. Granted, it was a quick MOC… I think I started working on the MOC less than a few weeks before flying out for the convention.
That year, I also created a Disney Castle MOC out of the white, blue & lime green Modulex bricks that I had. I don’t know if any one noticed or cared. For me, it wasn’t about building a big and flashy MOC, but more of a personal challenge to see if I could integrate the two brick “systems”.
